Outreach…
Annual Mountain Grove offerings
Outreach at Mountain Grove is simply a matter of living out the Gospel of God’s love. Whether it’s packing Christmas boxes for anonymous children, building a handicap ramp, lending a hand for a household move, supporting global missions through the cooperative program, or simply giving a lift to seniors who aren’t able to drive, the Mountain Grove family is ready roll up their sleeves and get to work.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Each fall, the Mountain Grove family collects toys, basic hygiene essentials, and small gifts for Operation Christmas Child® shoeboxes. Operation Christmas Child is a program of Samaritan’s Purse® that delivers donated gift boxes to children throughout the world. Groups from Mountain Grove usually schedule a day to volunteer at the packing facility in either Boone or Charlotte. Read more about Operation Christmas Child on the Samaritan’s Purse website (http://www.samaritanspurse.org/).
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
The Habitat website describes the organization as a “nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.” While Habitat is a global ministry, its work is always at the local level. For those looking for a way to engage practical ministry that impacts families in their communities, working on a Habitat home is a great place to get involved. Read more about Habitat for Humanity.
GREATER HICKORY COOPERATIVE CHRISTIAN MINISTRY
Mountain Grove collects food for the Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry during the months of March, July, and October. While any non-perishable food can be donated, CCM needs peanut butter, canned meats, soups, stews and other sources of protein. CCM also accepts individual portion size canned goods to distribute to the homeless in the community. Additionally, they typically have need of clean egg cartons to use to repackage eggs that are donated by grocery stores.
